Valentine Time

Wait... Is Valentine's Day really next week? (I work so far ahead on most of my recipe tutorials that by the time the holiday actually arrives, I've almost forgotten about it.)

The lovely folks at The Chic Site featured Gus' Bubblegum Valentines from last year in their roundup of 10 Crafty Valentines for Kids. There are some very clever ideas, check them out!

Guess this means I'd better get to work on something for Bea to hand out to her classmates. I'm kinda sad that Gus is in middle school now, and won't need them this year. Those elementary years go by fast. << sigh >>

Cookies in the Mail

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and I've got a fun idea for a mailable treat that looks good enough to eat. 

With just a few simple craft supplies and some wall caulking, you can make these really sweet Valentine cookie postcards. 

But I suggest you get started now... they take a while to dry.

Bubblegum Valentines

Both my kiddos are crazy for bubblegum. So I thought their Valentine's Day cards this year should be bubblicious too. (I always try to do something special that includes their photo. Here's what I did last year.)

I found these fun little test tubes of colorful bubblegum balls at Sam's Club. As usual, the hardest part of this project was getting Bea to stand still for a photo. I printed out the images on cardstock and then trimmed them out with an exacto-knife, making sure her little arms could hold the test tubes in place.

For Gus' Valentine, I took a photo of him pretending to blow a bubble. I printed the images on cardstock, trimmed them out and made cut lines on his mouth to hold a slightly-inflated pink balloon. Then I taped little baggies of Double Bubble Bubblegum to the backs of the cards.
