Sheep Rocker

My friend, Rachel, is expecting a baby in April, and I wanted to surprise her with something fun that she had pinned on her nursery Pinterest board - a Danish rocking sheep

So, naturally I begged Eric to build a similar version. And as always, he far exceeded my expectations. What a guy. He used white oak to create the wooden rocker frame, and I covered it in two wooly bath mats that I found at T.J. Maxx. Not too baaaad for our first sheep.

I told Eric that every time he makes something special like this for a friend or family member, it's like he's making a gift for me too. I simply love to see the creations that come out of his workshop.

Congrats to the Chrisman family! We hope your "little" makes many happy memories playing on this lovely lamb.

(Hard to believe it's been almost 4 years since Rachel & Mark got married... some of you might remember the dessert tables I created for their reception.)

Wiener Dog Rocker #3

Eric had a woodworking request for another rocker. This playful pooch is going to be a 1st birthday present for a little boy. Except, the grandmother asked if the dachshund could be a tiny bit taller. Absolutely. It just makes the pup a little "chubbier," but still very adorable.

This rocker is made out of cherry with a natural finish, and is somewhat lighter than the previous one he build in November.

I love how each dog is just a little bit different. Makes them special and one-of-a-kind. As is everything that comes out of Eric's workshop.

****FABULOUS FOLLOW-UP! How cute is this little guy on his new doxie rocker? Ryan celebrated his 1st birthday today, and his mom sent us a lovely "thank you" and this adorable photo. Dang. That just makes me smile. Enjoy, precious boy!

Wiener Dog Rocker #2

Eric had a special request to make another dachshund rocker for a woman who's first grandbaby arrives in March.

The first rocker he built was made out of white oak. This one, he built out of cherry wood. I just love how the green grass compliments the color. Looks like he's bounding through our lawn.

Here's hoping many generations are able to create great memories on this sweet little doxie.

Wiener Dog Rocker

A few weeks ago, Eric found himself without a project. It's rare folks, but it can happen. I jumped at the chance to have him make something I've been kicking around in my brain for a while - a wiener dog rocker. After Eric made those bird rockers, I kept thinking about other animals that would work and the dachshund dog is absolutely perfect - long, skinny and low-ridin' for little bitty kids.

I especially love that all I had to say was "Wiener Dog Rocker" and he immediately sketched what I was thinking on a post-it note.

Done. That man can read my mind. (Must be why we make such a great team.) He went out to his work shop, and a few days later this precious little pup was ready to go to a good home.

I'm happy to say it was "adopted" by our good friends, the LIndemans, and their youngest dog-lovin'-kiddo, Reef.

Ride 'em Reef! He'll have that puppy rockin' and rollin' in another month or two.
