Fourth Grade Field Trip

I got to spend some time with Gus' class this week on a field trip to the Chisholm Creek Park and Great Plains Nature Center. It was a beautiful fall day and we had a very good (and VERY patient) tour guide. She told the kids all about the different kinds of animals and insects in the park and they even got to touch a salamander & a snake. Lots of "ewwwws" and "eeeeeks!" from this cityfied group of kids. Mostly my own son. He's not what you would call a "Nature Lover" by any means.

We didn't see any muskrats or deer, but take look at the wild animal we DID come across on our nature walk....
Eric. He was doing his morning run and just happened to come jogging by our group. Gus thought that was pretty funny. Me too.
