A few years ago, I made some rice bowl "cakes" for my husband's birthday. (He loves, loves, loves steamed rice so I thought it would be funny.) I created the rice-like frosting texture with a potato ricer and it worked perfectly.
So this month, for one of my She Knows recipe tutorials, I recreated my rice bowl cakes - with bonus instructions on how to make "fried rice" too.
These would be fun to make for a Chinese-themed party, or maybe the Chinese New Year. Who knows, I'm sure there are other kitchen creatives out their goofy enough to try it. I did. Twice.
